Our 3rd annual fundraising event, A Storybook Kind of Day 2026, brought the superhero theme to life with capes, masks, and plenty of imagination at Heritage Park in Slidell. Families enjoyed a free day of fun and laughter with activities for all ages, while also learning about child passenger safety designed to help keep children safe on the road.

Pirates, Princesses & A Purpose
The 2024 A Storybook Kind of Day event brought the “Pirates and Princesses” theme to life with costumes, storytelling, and family-friendly activities for all ages and abilities. Beyond the fun and adventure, the event helped support Kids in Development Slidell’s mission to provide free car seats and certified installation assistance to families in need throughout St. Tammany Parish, helping keep local children safe on the road.

Thanks to the incredible support of our sponsors, volunteers, attendees, and community partners, A Storybook Kind of Day 2026 was a tremendous success. Every contribution helped further our mission of protecting children through car seat distribution and proper installation education, including stories like Brooklyn’s, whose correctly installed car seat helped keep her safe during a serious motor vehicle accident. Together, we are making a lasting difference for families in our community—one child, one car seat, and one smile at a time.
